The City’s Budget

The City of Tallahassee has moved into the “red zone” in terms of money in reserve to meet unexpected emergencies that may occur.  A tropical storm or other event could spell financial disaster. The public insists that spending be very closely examined in a more open process, and I agree. The time is ripe to reexamine allocations, redefine priorities and move forward in a more responsible direction.

The primary goals of government are to provide essential services.  As commissioner, I will make sure the basics are thoroughly covered before scarce dollars are budgeted for nonessentials.  That will be my priority.
