Issues
Tallahassee needs a city commissioner who can bring people together to grow our economy while protecting our natural resources. We’re smart enough to do both.
I’m an independent business owner who has raised two children in Tallahassee, and I’m running for the City Commission because I’ve made a commitment to helping Tallahassee be a wonderful place to live and work. That means growing our small businesses, protecting your tax money, and preserving our natural resources. As a commissioner, I promise to listen to you, so you can be confident I am dedicated to your needs. I’ve proven my integrity, vision and leadership, and I’m ready to do the job.
These are my priorities:
- Keep our money at home by supporting small business.
- Protect your tax money and restore your faith in government.
- Grow our economy while protecting our natural resources.
I’m a Problem Solver
My diverse background and experience enable me to evaluate the impacts of decisions from several points of view and think strategically. I can assess the social, environmental, and economic impacts of the actions we take as commissioners. That balanced perspective – that I bring better than anyone else – is critical on the city commission.
I’m a Business Person
Independent business is a tradition in my family. All my life I’ve been a small business person, having owned a retail store, a sales agency and a consulting business. I grew up working in my dad’s office and my children grew up working in mine. I’ve been there, felt the struggles, made payroll, weathered the tough times, and I’ve learned how to do more with less. It’s important to have a commissioner that understands the needs of the small businesses. Our local businesses are the fabric of our community, they make it special, and they keep our dollars at home.
I promise to help our local businesses thrive and prosper. People need jobs and an adequate living. That’s what keeps a community healthy.
I’m an Environmental Advocate
Most people know me for my efforts to make sure that our water is clean and safe, and now we have the best water in the state. Water is our gold, and I promise to fight to keep that water clean and keep it here- for our people, not for lawns in Tampa or St. Pete.
I Believe Family is First
Our residents, our families, are the heart of our city. Folks need to be confident that we, their leaders are dedicated to their needs. My two children grew up in Tallahassee and both intend to raise their families here. As the mother of Thure Caire and Betsy Couch, and grandmother to Caroline Couch, I want Tallahassee to be the best city that it can be.

These tough times call for vision and strong leadership. Through my public service record I’ve proven that I have those characteristics. These tough times present an opportunity. The time is right to:
Revisit where we are,
Review our priorities,
Reexamine our needs and
Revise our direction, if necessary.
We can do better. Let’s get going.
